Manipulative Behaviour | Are You Being Manipulated? | 5 Tips To Deal With It

Relationships

Welcome back to my channel. Scott here for another video. Ever faced with manipulative people and you’re wondering how you can handle them?

In this video you’re going to have five tips to ensure your a) you’re not easy play for manipulation and b) you’re going to know how to deal with these people. Let’s go. The first tip is to choose whether you need to be around them. A lot of the people I discuss who display these types of behaviors we have a choice, don’t we?

So, whether it’s a friend, or partner, cut them off. Just get rid of them or limit the time that you spend around them. If there’s a manipulative person at work, for example, well don’t get lured in by one of their snares, regardless of how enticing they make it. You have a friend that’s using you for their own advantage, just cut them off.

You don’t need these toxic people in your life. Now for those of you that have watched a lot of my videos you know that I’m a huge advocate for upgrading your circle anyway regardless. You want people in your life that are going to be empowering you, that are going to make your fire burn brighter, not people that are going to be taking that away and stealing your light.

Don’t settle for people just because they’re there. Number two is to be aware of the warning signs and the signals. Often these schemers are very calculated and they’re very good at their craft. They understand the intricacies of getting what they want through manipulation. They know who to target, they know what to target, and they know how to target, so awareness to their tactics and their methods is crucial so you don’t become a pawn in their game of chess.https://mrdotsgames.com/blog/

I talk a lot about the traits of a manipulator in this video here, so make sure you check it out after this. I’ll link it in the description below for you. Number three is to stay confident in yourself. Build that self esteem. Work hard on creating good habits and eliminating other habits.

Don’t let other people’s opinions dictate your decisions. Build your own opinions, build good judgment. A manipulator likes to prey on the weak and use that to their advantage. For example, you lack confidence with girls and they know this so they’ll use you to get closer to someone else, or they’ll use you for your money, or for other things.

They know that you want girls, but they also know that you lack confidence, and they’re going to use that against you. So what you need to do is identify what your ideal world is like in all areas. So, let’s just say it is to find a new partner, and you’ve identified that the roadblock is that you can’t talk to girls confidently. So what you need to do is go about building that skillset up. You need to read books.

You need to watch YouTube channels. You need to find a mentor. You need to practice.

Now, bettering yourself is crucial. I talk about it in the whole video. Check it out. I’ll link it out in the description below, as well.

Don’t stoop to their level. Number four, don’t start playing their games and reduce yourself to the same tactics. This only makes things worse, and often the manipulation just gets thicker, and it creates more webs, and it never ends well.

This can happen in relationships. This can happen in family environments. It can happen in the workplace. Okay, so let’s just say you’re faced with a manipulator in the workplace. They’re bad mouthing you there.

They’re putting you down so they can make themselves look better for career advancement. They target your weaknesses. They’ll highlight things showing your low performance, or they might twist your words in a meeting. The best thing you can do is not get caught up in their grand plan. Rather, just work on being your absolute best.

Bring your absolute best. Focus on bringing value to other people’s lives within the organization. Bring love, bring joy, bring value, and that will always win in the end. So if you’re in a work situation just focus on skilling up.

Build those relationships, build important relationships, with key stakeholders and just work on your development plan with the key decision makers. Number five is to have solid situational responses and actions. If, for example, they’re pressuring you into a decision through an ultimatum, or a deadline decision, stand firm.

You work on your clock. So say things like, “Let me think about it,” or “Leave it with me,” or “Let me take that onboard and I’ll get back to you.” And, if they’re coming to you scheming, or bitching, about someone else do not partake, because you know the only reason why they’re doing that is to get you on their side, or worse they’re going to take what you said and go to other people and say that you were bitching about X, Y and Z. Just stay true to your values. You can either sit there, listen, or don’t even partake. Just say, “Look, I don’t really want to partake in this conversation,” and then change the topic. Now you know how to handle manipulative people.
